I want to live seeing and experiencing the brilliance of God everywhere. Everywhere I look. Everywhere I turn. But I don’t. Not as often as I’d like to, anyway. But I do believe what Holy Spirit says. I believe it’s true. And I believe what the apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:6: that there is “one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
I believe there is beauty and hope and goodness everywhere.
But our world is a world of sin. The “whole world lies under the misery and influence of the Evil One.” That’s from 1 John chapter 5, verse 19. It is a world that rebels against God. Just take a quick glance at the news today or yesterday, or look at it tomorrow. This is the world I live in. The world you live in.
And the spirits of this world create for us a shroud of “mad achievement and false excellence and crazed deception,” as Holy Spirit, in this episode, says. The spirits of this world work to discourage us from believing in hope, in light, in goodness, in love. They work, every day, to convince us that the shroud isn’t a shroud at all, but that it’s our reality. They’re desperate to convince us that there is nothing beyond what we can see. But there is something underneath all this evil and selfishness and sadness. There is brilliance here, even here, even now, in this world of pressure and deceit.
